Eid moon not sighted in Saudi Arabia and UAE

Jeddah: Muslims in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirate (UAE) will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Sunday as Shawal moon has not been sighted in the two countries on Saturday.
According to the authorities, the moon-sighting committees had not received any evidence, therefore the Muslim festival would be celebrated in Saudi Arabia and UAE on Sunday.
A noted UAE astronomer had predicted last week that Eid Al Fitr will fall on Sunday 19th August.
Astronomy researcher and General Superviser of the Sharjah Planetarium Ibrahim Jarwan insisted that calculations showed that the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal will rise on Friday 17th August at 7.54pm. As the moonrise takes place 65 minutes after the sunset on that day, it will be impossible to see it because it will not be there on the horizon.
The ideal time to watch the crescent moon ranges between 10 to 30 minutes after the sunset on a day, explained Al Jarwan.
Thus Saturday will be the 30th day that completes the month of Ramadan, and the crescent will be visible on the horizon 17 minutes after the sunset, he added.
Authorities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman have already declared 10-day Eid holidays.
Muslims in other Gulf Arab countries are still waiting for announcement from their respective moon sighting committees. Most of Arab countries celebrate Eid on the same day.

Asif a brave Pakistani soldier who dares terrorists alone at Kamra airbase

Pakistan’s scrutiny forces have cleared Kamra Airbase after search operation following a late night attack on country’s one of the largest airbases in Attock district.
Senior anchor person and TV host Hamid  Mir said that the terrorist attack was foiled due to security high alert at the airbase since the militants had earlier attacked Mehran Naval Base in Karachi last year.
Mir said that there were three security layers of the Pakistan Air Force and the Pakistan Army while a security unit was also deployed near the aircraft hanger.
The senior journalist said that the attack was foiled by at the first phase by the Pakistan Army. He said the outer circle of the security was assigned to the army commodores.
Hamid Mir said that at least nine terrorists tried to enter the base by scaling 9 feet wall and cutting off 3 feet barbed wire.
Mir said that a soldier identified as Asif challenged the terrorists and stopped them from proceeding ahead. He said the brave soldier, deployed at one of the  post  kept fighting  with militants until he embraced martyrdom.
Hamid Mir said while Asif was daring the terrorists, his colleague called in army and Air Force Commandos, who killed terrorists one by one easily.
The TV host said that a  plane was partially damage as it was hit by a rocket during the fighting.
He said the militants were discouraged as the forces immediately traced their commander and killed, who was issuing instructions through a Motorola mobile phone outside the airbase.
Hamid Mir said that the attack was aimed at destroying  a spy plane.

London 2012 Olympics and the Troubled World

In a world that can sometimes seem bleak in the face of atrocities, sport has the power to bring people together and remind them of their common humanity.
And that is exactly what I witnessed at the opening ceremony of London 2012. The spectacularly directed and staged opening ceremony that included the RAF aerobatics, tributes and performances from Sir Paul McCartney, Mr-Bean (Rowan Atkinson) and David Beckham showcasing the best of British talent and skills was witnessed by 62,000 people live and a further one billion people on Television. The highlight was of course the Queen being escorted by the British James Bond -Daniel Craig.
A lot can be said and described and we can discuss the minor details of the costumes of the performers and can go on and do an in-depth analysis of the ceremony and the speeches made by the government officials. But it will not be of any real use as the opening ceremony has been praised and criticised with the most powerful microscopes of critics and journalists equally worldwide. To me, there were a number of fascinating happenings at the opening ceremony, and what truly captivated my imagination and curiosity were some of the teams from the batch of 205 worldwide nations that were present.
It all started when the Ethiopian team walked out with their procession. The country is the second largest in Africa and is also the second most populous state in the region. The country has been suffering from the worst ever drought in 60 years and the country is not expected to recover from the draught till late 2012. A recent wave of ethnic violence has also un-settled the country and along with poor resources and fewer facilities for the athletes it is a no small feat to put together a team of athletes and swimmers that would bring the nation a few smiles in these troubled times.
The next were the team of Syrians, smiling and waving at their supporters who are in the middle of a civil war. The fighting has intensified in the past few days, President Bashar Al- Assad`s violent crackdown on democracy activists has been condemned worldwide and the Olympic Chief of Syria was refused the UK Visa for the same reason. There has been widespread international condemnation of the Assad regime’s violent crackdown on pro-democracy protesters. The UN says at least 10,000 people have died in Syria since the uprising began in March 2011. The Syrians who have not taken part in the games since Athens Olympics 2004 have put together a team of 10 athletes who will compete in swimming, boxing, weight lifting, athletics and shooting.
Next in line was Pakistan, the country affected by terrorists attacks and suicide bombing since the 9/11 and with rumours of another Military take-over the country is everything but happy. Scarcely resourced when it comes to sports and heavily inclined towards cricket (as most commonwealth nations are) the country has not won a gold in a long time. In fact the last time they won gold was in 1992 Barcelona. It is again their field hockey team which is carrying the hopes for medals.
The Greeks lead the parade of nations as they walked in procession clad in blue suits. They were also the one that amused me the most – I sat there watching their procession thinking that who knew that eight years later the same country who was hosting the Olympics (not to mention that also the ones who invented Olympics) would be in a severe financial melt-down risking their European membership and relying on the International Olympic Committee, private sponsors and other institutions to pay for their pre-Olympic training. “It was a tough preparation, the toughest we have ever had because of the economic crisis,” said Greece` Olympic President Spyros Capralos. The athletes will be fighting against grim mood spread by not just the financial problems but also the recent ban of their two elite athletes for racism and doping.
On came Palestinians with only three athletes all of whom were selected with wild card entries as this is a nation that has been in crisis for more than 20 years. Displaced by inner conflicts and the neighbouring state Israel, Palestinians will not be even close to winning a bronze, but representing their people and letting them world know that they are there, participating and celebrating along with the entire world is itself a soothing thought for the crisis-ridden nation.
I have not mentioned all of the countries here, as time and word limit does not allow me to do, but there were other countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali, Tajikistan, Haiti, Uganda and many others suffering from the same problems or even greater as mentioned above. The point to note here is that it is hard to put up a smiling face in front of thousands of people, when your mind is pre-occupied with civil war, bombings and financial crises, even harder to compete in sports with a focused mind when you have a lack of preparation and near to none facilities. It takes great courage to plunge into a world-wide event when the only complete thing is the faith in oneself. It would be interesting to see how the gold medal winners from the leading countries would react if put in the same environment and given the same preparation as these athletes coming from the third world. Even more amusing would be to see if they won anything.

“Kaaptan” hero Abdul Mannan shares experiences about film on Imran Khan

Everyone is keeping an eye on a very daring film “KAPTAAN”, especially for those who love cricket and an admirer of “Imran Khan.” The story is based on a factual theme and Abdul Mannan is playing a leading role in this film as an “Imran Khan.”
Abdul Mannan is a new emerging star in Pakistan industry. He started his career from modeling and now become an actor. He has been giving his best performance in his forthcoming film “KAPTAAN” that based on legend “Imran Khan” life.
For knowing more about the film and this talented lucky person, we have conducted an exclusive chit chat with him:
 1.      The News Tribe: Tell me something about the theme of “KAPTAAAN”?
Abdul Mannan: Kaptaan is biopic. It’s all about Imran Khan’s Life, Achievements, and the eminent Personality in the world. He is considered World NO`1, all rounder, Bowler and No1 Kaptaan in the world. He has proved it and that’s why Movie name is “Kaptaan”.
 2.      The News Tribe: Imran Khan is a great inspiration for youth. What is the main thing that you inspired most?
Abdul Mannan: I get inspired of his whole life because he didn’t waste his talent. He always looks forward without caring negative views. I’m inspired by him as an honest politician too. I have never heard any politician such as he said, that “Pakistan main kisi cheez ki kami hy. bahir say loog yahan nokaria dhoondny aya karain gy”.
Its mean he already has seen his vision about Pakistan. He didn’t just think about it, he takes a long term decision about the prosperity of Pakistan. This is not a common thing, it’s a sign of great people they didn’t just think but have to prove their vision, their dream that they have already dreamt off. It’s the fact if you think positive the results will be positive but if you already build doubts in your mind then most probably it happens worst.
If you think you can, you can and if you think you can’t, you can’t. One more thing which inspires me so much is that he sacrificed his family, two lovely beautiful kids and his ex-wife because of people of Pakistan. He is so much ambitious, determined and his vision is broad. .
  3.      The News Tribe: Does this film support Imran Khan wining forthcoming elections?
Abdul Mannan: This film casts a last long impression to our sleepy nation. Firstly, we must appreciate our talented heroes, best talent of Pakistan.
He is our national Hero, a treasure of Pakistan, we should honor him. Building first cancer hospital in Pakistan, was not a child’s play. Why don’t other politicians think like Imran Khan. If he said that he can solves Pakistan’s problems in hundred days then why not out the government? They can’t say, because they don’t have moral courage like him. They are here for some other purpose. Imran khan knows the purpose of his existence and this is the best message we will spread through this film not only to Pakistani people, but all over the world. Everyone has a purpose of his existence on this planet but people hardly get to know because we often watch others and hence lost our own. This movie will be very much motivated for the youth of Pakistan, in shaa allah!
 4.      The News Tribe: Tell us something no one knows about you?
Abdul Mannan: A true patriot,   my English typing speed 52 wpm, and I know Urdu typing too, speed 44 wpm. Good electrician as well.  My core wish is to become an international Boxer, because of my long arms.
 5.      The News Tribe: Kaaptaan is your first experience, how was it?
Abdul Mannan:  It is an amazing experience in my life by learning and gaining through this, I pump up my skills.
 6.      The News Tribe: What makes you taking up the role of Imran Khan?
Abdul Mannan: This role is like a leap change in my life. I am totally changed. I learn many things from his life. I hope it’s a good inspiration for our youth too. You know, “kuch kar dekhaany ki pyaas ho tu hi manzalain asaan hojati hain”, and we have to keep dreaming. Never stop dreaming. It is our dreams who give us hope of living in future. I learned from his life, especially fear, Khauf ka Buth, Torny party hain. There are many fears people have in their life and they stop them from going farther. We have to cope; we have to conquer our fear.
 7.      The News Tribe: What was your first expression when you heard about this role?
Abdul Mannan: I got very much excited, when they asked me about this role. I can’t remember those beautiful moments. I found it interesting. Initially I took it so easy to do but when I got to know that it’s not an easy job I tried updating my skills, and knowledge, about Imran Khan. How he walks, talks, each and everything about him besides focusing on my weaknesses.
 8.      The News Tribe: Do you face any difficulty to adopt this character?
Abdul Mannan: Yes I face many hurdles during the shoot of this film. Especially, bowling action, because I am a left arm bowler, and Imran Khan is a right hand. Secondly, I face problem in speeching the way he moves his hands so I started learning many things exactly what he do. In short span of time, I overcome my difficulties portraying him so well. Alhamdulillah, day by day, I did the best.
 9.      The News Tribe: What were your three most favorite or tremendous (whichever you wish) scenes to shoot from KAPTAAN?
Abdul Mannan: My best Scenes that are the most memorable, when Imran Khan gets caught in university. The most Unforgettable scene of the movie which I like the most is when Imran Khan was going Jail, and then moved to another Jail. The third scene I love the most is when he was in Karachi, near sea side, you will love it too as it is the last scene of the movie.
 10. The News Tribe: What is the worst rumour you have heard about yourself?
Abdul Mannan: China wala Imran Khan. Lolxx. China is popular in making the duplicate of everything, so I got laugh on it when I got a chance in front of public to hear such gossips. When people saw me in Imran khan get-up they keep steering. (bursts loudly), it was like they shocked, and start considering me, as real Imran Khan.
 11. The News Tribe: We come to know you are also a flexible photographer, did you capture any memorable “KAPTAAN” moments during shoot?
Abdul Mannan: Each Alhamdulillah. I’m, I did capture the best moments while shooting. Sometimes, I guided the others, rest of the crew people. I gave them my camera and told them how to focus, how to click and the camera angle. So, I captured myself too, by setting the timer in the camera. I do share these photos on my wall, and will share with you.
 12. The News Tribe: What drives you most, money, fame, or success?
Abdul Mannan: Success
13. The News Tribe: Any unforgettable moment during the shooting of “KAPTAAN”?
Abdul Mannan: The crying, moments, at the time when Khan’s mother died. Director says ‘you have to cry genuinely.’ I said ‘it’s hard’, but finally I did it and they all were shock, and busted into clapping and my tears kept coming out continuously even after finishing the scene. It was very hard for me to transform from one condition to another and that scene was taken before the Fajar prayer time. I can’t forget those moments.
 14. The News Tribe: What other roles would you like to pursue in the future?
Abdul Mannan: Whatever role I like to do in the best way, which is fit to my personality, I do. I prefer, serious roles, comedy, thrill, action, I can do so well.
 15. The News Tribe: Given an option what would you opt, be a romantic hero or a villain with a gist?
Abdul Mannan: Both though If I had a choice in between these two roles then I do make a wise decision after reading the script.
 16. The News Tribe: Do you have any Phobias?
Abdul Mannan: Swimming deep down and standing in dust for the few seconds even, makes it hard for me to take breathe.
 17. The News Tribe: How does it feel to be playing the most enchanting character in the movie?
Abdul Mannan: It feels like, I was on the voyage of self discovery.
 18. The News Tribe: Who is your favorite co-actor till date and why?
Abdul Mannan: I was very much impressed by the character, which portray General Zia. He resembled much for sure, but he speaks so natural and clear while in action. I learnt many things from him, like cut light, and the way he acts so natural

London 2012 javelin: Game technique and schedule

Washington: Google which is extensively covering the London Olympics 2012 has posted its 11th doodle of the Olympics on its homepage. Dedicated to Javelin Throw, the doodle features a male javelin thrower taking the throwing position in a stadium. The term “Google” is written in a slapdash manner, with the second ‘O’ hidden behind the athlete.
The javelin throw is a track and field athletics throwing event where the object to be thrown is the javelin, a spear approximately 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) in length. Javelin is an event of both the men’s decathlon and the women’s heptathlon. The javelin thrower gains momentum by running within a predetermined area.
The size, shape, minimum weight, and center of gravity of the javelin implement itself are all defined by IAAF rules. In international competition, men throw a javelin between 2.6 and 2.7 m (8 ft 6 in and 8 ft 10 in) in length and 800 g (28 oz) in weight, and women throw a javelin between 2.2 and 2.3 m (7 ft 3 in and 7 ft 7 in) in length and 600 g (21 oz) in weight. The javelin is equipped with a grip, approximately 150 mm (5.9 in) wide, made of cord and located at the javelin’s center of gravity (0.9 to 1.06 m (2 ft 10 in to 3 ft 6 in) or 0.8 to 0.92 m (2 ft 7 in to 3 ft 0.2 in) from the tip of the javelin for men’s and women’s implements, respectively).
Using a run-up the athlete must release the javelin before the end of the runway, launching it with one hand held over the shoulder. The distance the javelin travels is measured from the end of the runway to the point the javelin first touches the ground, which must be within the lines of the throwing sector. The javelin must land on its tip for the throw to be valid.
Schedule of Javelin throw in London Olympics 2012:
Aug  07  Women’s Javelin Throw Qualifying Rounds  (1/2)5:00 AM
Aug  09  Women’s Javelin Throw Final 4:00 PM
Aug  08  Men’s Javelin Throw Qualifying Rounds  (1/2)2:05 PM

NASA’s Curiosity rover successfully lands on Mars

California: The most high-tech rover NASA, Curiosity, has successfully landed on the surface of Mars on Monday.
The Curiosity rover was poised to hit the top of the Martian atmosphere at 13,000 mph.
With Curiosity on autopilot, engineers became spectators, anxiously waiting to see if Curiosity executes the routine as planned.
“I’m not the nervous type, but I haven’t been sleeping all that well the last week or so even though I’m still very confident,” said engineer Steven Lee.
NASA was ready for the “Super Bowl of planetary exploration,” said Doug McCuistion, head of the Mars exploration program at NASA headquarters.
“We score and win or we don’t score and we don’t win,” said McCuistion.
The touchdown attempt was especially intense because NASA was testing a brand new landing technique. Due to the communication delay between Mars and Earth, Curiosity was on autopilot. There was also an extra pressure because budget woes have forced NASA to rejigger its Mars exploration roadmap

Hero TV brings Veena Malik back on ‘Astaghfar’

The hottest news in the air is that the controversial queen Veena Malik has been brought back on Hero TV’s ‘Astaghfar’ show and she will now be hosting the show during the month of Ramadan.
Veena is in India for the past 2 years and she did many cheap things over there in order to gain publicity. She started an affair with actor Ashmit Patel during her stint in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house and later on she appeared nude with an ISI tattoo on her left shoulder on the cover page of a popular men’s magazine FHM India.
She did many other dirty and cheap things in India as a result to which people of Pakistan strongly reacted when Hero TV brought her on ‘Astaghfar’ for the first time.

The outcry across the country was so much that the channel decided to cancel the show, which was prepared for the Holy month of Ramadan.
“TV is for the awaam. If the awaam does not want to see Veena Malik on this Ramadan show, then we will cancel it,” a member of the production team was quoted as saying.
“The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has received Internet petitions calling for the show to be cancelled,” a Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) official stated at that time.
However, the situation has got another twist now as Hero TV has aired Veena Malik’s ‘Astaghfar’ show. Perhaps the channel took the risk to broadcast the show in order to cover up the loss which it had to bear for dropping Veena.
A four-minute clip is available on Youtube, in which Veena can be seen hosting the show.
Well, all said and done, the reaction from the people is yet to come but as far as Veena Malik is concerned, she is very happy.
Veena said, “I am very happy that my show ‘Astaghfar’ is going to be on air I thank ‘Allah’ for giving me such opportunity to host this show. It is people’s loves which has brought me back on the show.

London 2012 Tennis: Serena crushes Sharapova for Olympic gold

London: US tennis star Serena Williams once again proves herself a finest women’s tennis player in the game by crushing Maria Sharapova to win the Olympic singles title and complete her career golden slam.
This was the only thing missing from her singles portfolio and she set about putting that right in some style this week.
Williams progressed to the final for the loss of just 16 games, destroying the likes of Caroline Wozniacki and world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, and she carried the form into the final with Sharapova – racing to a stunning 6-0 6-1 win.
The American set the tone in the opening game, firing down three aces – one of which was a second serve – in a love hold.
Sharapova has won four grand slams and is too one of the greats of her generation, but she was simply made to look like a second-rate player by the complete authority of Williams.
It was not until the third game that Sharapova won a point, but it proved a false dawn as Williams held – courtesy of a fourth ace – and she broke again for 4-0. And two games later, after only 30 minutes, the set was Williams’.

"Fierce 5" soar their way into Olympic History

LONDON: For 16 years, the Magnificent Seven defined the U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics program, setting the standard by which every American team is judged.
There is gold. And there is everything else.
Now , finally , there is the team known as the "Fierce Five."
Jordyn Wieber. Gabby Douglas. McKayla Maroney. Aly Raisman. Kyla Ross.
Teenagers. Champions. And maybe , just maybe , the greatest team of all time.
"Others might disagree, the '96 team might disagree," coach John Geddert said. "But this is the best team. Difficulty-wise, consistency-wise, this is USA's finest."
It's certainly the world's fiercest.
Intimidating the rest of the eight-team field with an eye-popping vault set in which the Americans soared so high they may have been picked up on radar at Heathrow Airport, the U.S. stormed to an emphatic victory that put them atop the podium for the first time since Kerri Strug and company hobbled to gold in Atlanta.
Strug became a pixie-cut icon after her gusty one-legged vault sealing the country's first gold. The image of her being carried onto the medal stand by coach Bela Karolyi is a fixture in Olympic montages.
No drama this time. Just dominance. A good old-fashioned whipping by a program determined to return to the top. The U.S. posted a score 183.596, more than five points ahead of Russia and seven clear of Romania.
"They're just so far ahead of anyone else," said Britain's Rebecca Tunney. "They definitely deserve it."
They certainly earned it.
The Americans have spent the last nine months competing with a target on their back after running away with the title at last year's world championships.
It happened, however, on the other side of the planet. In a non-Olympic year no less. Russia was hobbled. The Romanians were a mess. And the Americans was still largely anonymous.
Not anymore. Not by a longshot.
Led by a rejuvenated Wieber, who shook off her disappointing performance in qualifying to compete with the tenacity that's become her trademark, the U.S. led after the first rotation and never trailed.
There were no major miscues in any of their 12 routines. Wieber, who missed out on the chance to contend for the individual all-around title after finishing as the third-best American, used a gentle pep talk from good friend Maroney and a challenge from Geddert to return to her world championship form.
"I had to put it together mentally, especially for this team," Wieber said. "A team gold medal was also officially a goal of mine."
The U.S. has spent the last 16 years trying to find the right combination of talent and experience to climb back to the top. Team coordinator Martha Karolyi overhauled the program, attempting to create a sense of togetherness and chemistry after the U.S. slumped to a lackluster bronze in Sydney in 2000.
The current crop meets together for training once a month. They Skype and text and chat whenever they get the chance.
And in front of the world with all the pressure on their tiny , but well-muscled , shoulders, they left no doubt.
When the Americans ripped through three beam routines and took a 1.2-point cushion into the final rotation  the floor, perhaps their second-best event, even Karolyi could feel the gold being draped over their shoulders.
"At that moment, I already could envision that we have the medal in our hands," Karolyi said.
A stunning collapse by the Russians meant the U.S. needed only to stay upright to claim the title. They did it with style.
